South Street Seaport

You might think that I’m out of my element in New York City, but nothing could be further from the truth!  I spent many happy hours wandering around mid-town when I’d go in for a day with my dad, who would be in meetings all day. In those days my rounds would consist of visiting the magic shops, F.A.O. Schwartz and the like, then later on I graduated to Stacks Coin Shop on 57th Street, the electronic stores and, inevitably, the camera stores.  Gradually, I expanded my roaming to the Upper West Side and most of Central Park and the museums.  So the City has been part of my life for most of my life.  I’ve seen Bryant Park in many different incarnations.

But I never mastered the subway system, and so I had only been down south once or twice on business trips. Last Saturday was a great, bright sunny day – warmish for February – and the light was nice.
