Skyline Drive – Day 1

Around the Bend

Noticing that I had nothing pressing on the calendar for a little over a week, I decided it was finally time to take a nice, long drive. Where better to drive in Autumn than down the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway into Great Smokey Mountains National Park?  This first installment begins at about 4pm at Front Royal, the northern terminus of the Skyline Drive, and ends at Big Meadows, around the middle of the drive and where I camped (in my car) for the night.

If you ever feel the need to restore your soul, and your love for America, this drive will do it.

Note: In order to see the panoramic shots in full width, click on the full screen option in the lower right corner of the frame.  When done, hit escape.

Leaves and Waterfall

I took a nice walk at Ricketts Glen State Park with the Philadelphia Cousins today. There was a goodly amount of water flowing after yesterday’s rain, and the sun was (mostly) out. The light was nice. Life is good.

Return to SGL 57

On a clear day, you can see forever.

My previous day’s walk having been curtailed by a rain, I returned the next day to PA State Game Lands #57.  In the now brighter light, everything looked different!
