Old Carriage House

There’s an old dirt road that runs behind my house and those of my neighbors for a little over a mile. At one time, it was the only road on this part of the lake and people had garages up behind their houses instead of down in front like they do now.  Only they weren’t garages – the were carriage houses.  As far as I know, there’s only one left, although you can see the foundations of many more as you walk along the road. Depending on which way you turn at the last one (the image at the left), you will either descend quickly back into present day civilization and Lakeside Drive or head out into a mini-wilderness.  I prefer the latter.
