Glen Burnie Gardens

Glen Burnie Gardens are located at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, in Winchester, Virginia.  I was rummaging through the archives and way back in September of 2008, I came upon them.

I didn’t think so much of them at the time, but for some reason I found myself smiling at the odd juxtaposition of gorgeous formal gardens, odd statuary, ducks and cows.

The museum and historic house are not far off route 81 in Northernmost Virginia.  Either one is worth the trip, but together, they are a must see.

Snow Shadows

I went out to the front porch to look for something – I’m always looking for something – and I noticed the late afternoon Maxfield Parish light casting shadows on the snow.  I immediately abandoned my search, grabbed the camera, and captured magic for 15 minutes.  There are some things about winter I will miss.

Winter Light at The Lands at Hillside Farms

Filed under: Hillside Farms,Nature,Northeastern Pennsylvania,Places — Tags: , , , , , , — Frank Burnside @ 7:37 pm

I spent an inspiring, albeit chilly hour or so at a little-explored area of The Lands at Hillside Farms.  I had thought it would be devoid of life, but I was pleasantly surprised! The animals were friendly, the buildings were, well, nice old farm buildings, the snow had mostly turned to ice, and the light was magical.
