A nice drive through the countryside, once more enjoying the warm winter light, even thought the temperature was frigid.  Mozart on the sound system, good conversation, and pictures where you least expect.  Life is good – even in January!

Dusk in the Garden

We are in the depths of January, with no relief in sight.  Spring is way beyond the horizon.  After a day and a half of snow, sleet, rain and ice, the wind blowing across the frozen lake from the northwest is bringing back the bitter cold.

And yet, there was beauty all around today, with the ice in the trees – not so much as to break them, but to give them that magical light.  And when I got home, I noticed that the garden, such as a garden is in January, also had a coating of ice, and I discovered that if I moved in really close it was still a beautiful garden.
